And we're back. I spent the last few days literally scheduled to the point of having no time at all. That's what happens when so many things hit on the same weekend. The good news is that my students have won their musical theatre category for three years in a row now at NATS. I am so busy already and things just keep getting busier. Over the weekend, I'll be preparing students for the NATS Festival and spring musical auditions, seeing students in two more shows, teaching lessons and doing some outreach for Pirates. There's a tangent thread on NFCS about putting non-opera credits on your resume. Someone has pointed out that if you're singing classical music with top-level orchestras you should include that. There is nothing quite so sucky as having the NATS Festival and a spring youth theatre audition on the weekend after the show you're in goes into run-throughs and you're the lead so they're going to notice if you don't show up. Last year, my students dominated at the local National Association of Teachers of Singing Festival. It was not the first time the studio had placed but it was the first time we hit big with a near shut out in one category and students placing in several others. I think I'm going to narrow this thing down to careers for singers, since that's where my expertise is. I will however, open this thing up to cover many genres of singing.
